from Bosch; named after J. van den Bosch (1780-1844), (, , ), from 1832-34 general-commissioner of the former Dutch East India, who introduced the famous culture-system, from 1834-39 he was secretary of colonial affairs. The genus was dedicated by Korthals (see Korthalsella) to ’this industrious and clever statesman, who wanted to improve the well-being of the natives that were put under his care, in connection with the prosperity of the Netherlands, made many hectares of ground, once the residence of wild animals, to be planted with useful crops.’
